Lower Manhattan Hospital Home Page

NewYork-Presbyterian/Lower Manhattan Hospital surgeons perform more than 7,500 outpatient and inpatient surgical procedures each year, including laser, laparoscopic, endoscopic, endovascular, and other minimally invasive surgical procedures. Our full-service Surgical Center features a Preoperative Testing Unit, six operating rooms, and a Post-Anesthesia Care Unit. These dedicated surgical areas are for patients undergoing emergency, same-day, or major surgery.

Prior to surgery, patients make a preoperative screening appointment with the Preoperative Testing Unit for routine laboratory tests, X-rays, electrocardiograms, or other testing as ordered by their surgeons. Patient consent forms for receiving anesthesia may also be signed at this time.

With ambulatory surgery, also known as outpatient surgery, patients are discharged on the day of their procedure. Patient care within the Ambulatory Surgery Unit is provided by a team of health professionals that includes surgeons, anesthesiologists, certified registered nurse anesthetists, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and operating room technicians.

All NewYork-Presbyterian/Lower Manhattan Hospital physicians are on the faculty of Weill Cornell Medical College. Within the familiar setting of their community hospital, patients experience a level of care found in a leading academic medical center.
