Lang Youth Information for Parents and Students

For Parents

Beginning with the application process – which includes a parent statement and interview – Lang Youth highlights the significance of parent involvement. Since our inception, we have maintained parental engagement at 80% thanks to the unwavering commitment of our students' parents and the myriad of formal and informal opportunities we have created to encourage parent participation. Lang parents are required to attend four parent workshops scheduled in advance throughout the academic year.

The focus of these workshops varies and spans from science-related topics to healthy cooking demonstrations. In addition, we host high school and college application workshops for students and parents to assist families navigate the admissions process. Lang parents are also given ample opportunity to participate in the operations of the program by being invited to chaperone trips, lead round-table discussions and workshops, and teach electives.

For Students

Lang Youth Scholars are college-bound young professionals, scientists, and good citizens of their community. Through their dedication and service, they have embedded themselves in the NYP and Washington Heights and Inwood communities.
