Lang Youth Admissions

Lang Scholars are bright, highly motivated young people with a deep and sincere interest in learning and commitment to service. Our students are deeply dedicated to exploring and mastering scientific concepts that lead to a better understanding of the world, especially in the health sciences. To identify such scholars, we have devised an admissions process, which similarly to our approach to teaching and learning, is holistic and takes into consideration the many facets that make up our applicants.

To apply to Lang Youth, interested students must be enrolled in the 6th grade in a public middle school in the Washington Heights or Inwood communities, former School District Six. Applicants should have an overall grade point average of 80% or above, 3's or 4's on the math and ELA statewide exam from the 5th grade, and good attendance. Students are required to fill out the Lang Youth application, which includes two student statements, one parent statement, and two recommendation letters from academic subject teachers. Competitive applicants and their parent(s) or guardian(s) will be invited to interview at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital with a Lang staff member.

Please Note: Applications will be available on this page in March of 2010.
