About Iris Cantor

In 1978, Mrs. Cantor and her late husband, B. Gerald Cantor, established the Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Foundation to fund medical, educational, and cultural institutions in the US and abroad. Mrs. Cantor has held a longstanding commitment to support institutions at the forefront of biomedical research and clinical care in New York City, including her current service on NewYork-Presbyterian's Board of Trustees.

The idea of a center dedicated to men's health services was apparent to Mrs. Cantor after seeing how the convenient care provided at the Iris Cantor Women's Health Center (opened in 2002) encouraged more patients to seek care. Since then, the women's center had served over 90,000 patients, of which 40% of patients treated were men, often brought in by the women in their lives.

In July 2012, The Iris Cantor Men's Health Center (ICMHC) was opened on 12th floor of 425 E. 61st St., the same building as the Iris Cantor Women's Health Center. The building also houses floors with other NewYork-Presbyterian clinical programs in the areas of mental health, radiology, dermatology, and sleep medicine.

As envisioned by Mrs. Cantor, the ICMHC provides the convenient access to comprehensive health care that better enables men to take a proactive role in establishing healthy lifestyles and maintaining long-term health. It also provided NewYork-Presbyterian and Weill Cornell Medical College the opportunity to pioneer a new approach in providing medical services and fulfill an important health care need within the community.
