Esophageal Diseases

The area of Esophageal Diseases includes Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), Barrett's Esophagus, and Esophageal Cancer. All Esophageal Diseases affect the esophagus, the muscular tube that connects the throat with the stomach.

As a major academic medical center, New York-Presbyterian is home to the most cutting-edge diagnostic tools, research programs, chemoprevention programs, therapeutic treatments and best patient care available to treat Esophageal Diseases. These include a range of minimally invasive surgical and radiation treatments for all three esophageal diseases which are used whenever possible and which have been demonstrated to give patients faster recovery times, fewer complications, less scarring, and outcomes that are equal to, if not better than traditional open procedures.

Each Esophageal Disease has its own group of symptoms, diagnostic tests, and treatment options. Please choose a specific disease for more information.
