Cardiac Health Center
The Cardiac Health Center of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital provides personalized exercise training, nutritional education, and stress management for patients who have had heart surgery. Programs are generally 12 weeks in duration.
Each patient's cardiovascular health plan is developed in collaboration with his or her physician and is customized to meet individual needs and ensure safety.
Exercise
Staff at the Center use state-of-the-art technology to create a customized exercise program for each patient. An experienced exercise physiologist and a specially trained nurse provide individual attention to each patient while exercising and these sessions are monitored by a physician using telemetry monitoring.
Diet, Lifestyle
Staff at the Center also provide educational programs for patients in a variety of areas, such as healthy nutrition, stress management, weight loss, and smoking cessation, to help them succeed in reducing their risk of future heart problems.
Ultimately, the Center's goal is to provide patients with the necessary tools for them to return to the best possible lifestyle while reducing the risk of future health problems.
Integrative Medicine Program
Patients may also take advantage of the Hospital's Integrative Medicine Program, which aims to improve the quality of care for patients and to change the way people view health and healing. Services offered to patients include massage therapy, yoga, and the use of guided imagery audiotapes. Reflexology and hypnosis are also available.
