Adapted Interventions Study

Adapted Interventions for Minimally Verbal Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder(AIM-ASD)

The purpose of this study is to develop an effective school-based language intervention for young children diagnosed with autism with limited spontaneous expressive language. The intervention lasts four months with an additional four months of follow-up and is designed to train parents how to help their children increase social and communication skills.

Age: 4.5 to 8 years old

Criteria: Child with autism diagnosis who is 18 months or above developmentally with minimal language.

Duration: Four month intervention consisting of four 45 minute sessions each. Research assessments taking place (1) at the beginning of the study, (2) after six weeks of intervention, (3) after the last intervention session, and (4) one month after the last session, (5) two months after the last session and (6) three months after the last session and (7) four months after the last session.

Compensation: $35 for completing each research assessment
