  • Male infertility
  • Peyronie's disease
  • Sexual dysfunction
  • Sexually transmitted disease
  • Upper tract tumors
  • Urinary tract infection
  • Varicocele

Our Approach to Care & Surgery

Urologists at The Allen Hospital take a personalized and multi-disciplinary approach to patient care. They consider each patient's disease or condition, along with his or her health and lifestyle. In addition, they generally consult with physicians in other medical specialties when planning a course of care.

When that course of care includes surgery, the Department has a fully equipped, state-of-the-art surgical robotics program for the treatment of prostate cancer, bladder cancer and kidney cancer. This minimally invasive approach reduces the blood loss, risk, pain, and recovery time of traditional open surgery. Non-cancerous conditions are also generally treated with minimally invasive techniques such as laparoscopy or endoscopy. These techniques offer the same benefits as robotic surgery.

About Our Physicians

Our urology physicians, all of whom are full-time faculty members of the Department of Urology of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, are engaged in active research, clinical trials, and teaching. This academic involvement means that patients receive outstanding care – without long waiting times for appointments and other inconveniences frequently associated with larger institutions. This means that patients experience a level of care found in a leading academic medical center while they are being treated in the intimate setting of a community hospital. Because our physicians are affiliated with New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center, our patients have access to Columbia's advanced equipment when needed.
