Pharmacy at NYP

Your Career After Residency

As a member of the pharmacy staff at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, you'll be a key part of the clinical team.

Pharmacists in health care facilities dispense medications, advise the medical staff on proper medication selection, and create, assess, plan, and monitor medication regimens. Pharmacists provide educational programs for hospitalized patients on the use of drugs.

At NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, Pharmacists are very involved with patient care. We have formed specialty workgroups, where pharmacists are assigned to a specific unit. This gives them a more in-depth clinical experience, as well as an opportunity to build rewarding relationships with nurses, physicians and other health-care providers.

Our satellite pharmacy stations are strategically placed to provide high-quality service to our patients. Our leading-edge order entry system makes things faster, easier and safer - and allows Pharmacists to have more time to address patient care issues. There is also the opportunity for involvement with target drug monitoring and research projects.

And there are other options. For new graduates or those who value a more varied experience, we offer a different path, with movement between units and specialties. We also have programs in place that give you the opportunity to expand your knowledge and the management experience you need to move your career forward.

The Department of Pharmacy is run by an integrated team of operational, clinical, and administrative staff. All staff receive orientation (specialty orientation where applicable), on-the-job training, ongoing in-service education, and the opportunity to fulfill mandatory New York State continuing education requirements on site. Annual evaluations that are based on job descriptions are used to assess and assure competency of staff.

Positions offered by the Department include:
  • Pharmacy Manager
  • Clinical Manager
  • Full Time Pharmacist
  • Part-Time Pharmacist
  • Per Diem Pharmacist
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician
  • Pharmacy Assistant
  • Administrative Assistant
