Residency Training - Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

Selection Process/Application

Selection Process

Trainees interested in joining the NYP Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Residency Training Program must meet the minimum requirements for sub-specialty training, including the completion of one year of internship and either two or three years of general psychiatry residency training. Most residents accepted to the program begin our program at the PGY-IV or PGY-V level of postgraduate training.

The NYP Child & Adolescent Psychiatry program requires a completed application packet alongside a full battery of required documents to be eligible for consideration. NYP also welcomes international medical graduates who are required to include a copy of the ECFMG certificate in addition to the other application requirements. The program director, associate program directors, and program administrators review each application in its entirety. Timely submission of application materials is important, but specific cut-off dates are not used in the evaluation of applications for interviews.

Interviews for selected applicants are conducted from September-December during the year before training is set to begin. Candidates will interview at both the Columbia and Weill Cornell campuses in Manhattan.

A complete application will include the following items (*indicates items to be included by foreign medical graduates only):
