We are delighted that you have expressed interest in our program and thrilled that you will be a child and adolescent psychiatrist. We wanted to write to share with you a few reasons why we feel so strongly about the Columbia/Weill Cornell program.

The combination of the clinical and academic strengths at Weill Cornell and Columbia offer a unique and broad experience. This educational partnership provides the opportunity to work with diverse patient populations and participate in the complete spectrum of child psychiatry services. While this joint program is still in its childhood, it has developed and matured at a rapid rate, and we are already reaping the benefits of this successful merger.

Within the three training sites, we have an exceptionally large teaching faculty with a variety of clinical and research interests. As fellows, we have the opportunity to learn from key figures in child psychiatry, and even to participate in the same work that is published in the academic literature and the popular press. It is exciting and as honor to train at an institution that is helping to create the future of child psychiatry.

It is also rewarding to develop relationships with so many fellows in our large program (14 fellows in each graduating class). While we are at three different sites during most of the week, we all come together for weekly didactics and clinical meetings, as well as for less formal events such as happy hour and holiday parties. This affords us a network of colleagues with whom we can collaborate during training and in our future careers.

As a result of these experiences, we are confident that we will graduate with the competence, skill, knowledge, and experience to be successful in our careers.

This is a just little taste of what we have experienced over the time we have been here. We look forward to meeting you and discussing more when you come for your interview.

Good Luck!
Marsha Austin, Andrew Gerber, Enrico Suardi and Nora Lynn San Diego
