A Message From:
Richard S. Liebowitz, MD, MHSc

Dear Colleague:

Welcome to the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital Alumni Association website — offering news and information for and about the Hospital's former residents and fellows. Launched in March 2009, our new Alumni Association website serves as a valuable resource for the more than 10,000 practicing physicians who have the distinction of having trained at one of the country's preeminent academic medical centers. The website features:

  • Alumni Events Calendar — a monthly calendar to alert alumni of events happening on campus throughout the year
  • News and Notes — an opportunity to share your news and learn what's going on with your fellow alumni
  • NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital news — links to the latest news, announcements, and appointments
  • Alumni membership information
  • Continuing Medical Education — links to CME events and activities provided through Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and Weill Cornell Medical College
  • Access to professional resources through NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital
  • Forum — a newsletter for NewYork-Presbyterian alumni published three times a year. We invite you to browse through the Forum newsletters linked at the left.

Today, with over 100 graduate medical education programs, our enrollment numbers more than 1,100 residents and 300 fellows in virtually every specialty at both of our main campuses: NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. Graduates from our two medical schools recognize the outstanding training opportunities that are available at NewYork-Presbyterian. This year, 32 percent of medical students from Weill Cornell Medical College and 25 percent of medical students from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons matched to NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital programs.

Regardless of when you graduated, I am sure that you look back with pride at the institution that provided you with access to the clinical and research expertise that has enabled you to pursue your professional aspirations at the highest level. Today NewYork-Presbyterian continues to excel, ranking first in the New York City metropolitan area and sixth in the nation, according to U.S News Media Group's 2008 edition of America's Best Hospitals. You can learn more about NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital at www.nyp.org.

As former residents and fellows, you, too, played an important role in the growth and development of our Hospital, and have since gone on to serve at the forefront of your profession. Perhaps you have stayed in touch with some of your former classmates — and if not, here is an opportunity to reconnect with them again. This website will enable you not only to network with your colleagues, but also to share your thoughts on what we can do to facilitate an interactive membership.

We look forward to hearing from you and learning of the achievements and highlights of your career since graduation, as well as any comments or suggestions you might have for the NewYork-Presbyterian Alumni Association and enhancing our new website.

Sincerely,

Richard S. Liebowitz, MD, MHSc
