The Mission
of the
Weill Cornell Council

To serve as advocates and ambassadors for the NewYork Weill Cornell Medical Center as an academic medical center supporting patient care, research and education. Through fellowship and friendly interaction, we strengthen the ties between Weill Cornell Medical College and the Weill Cornell campus of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital.


Executive Committee Member

Collette T. KeanCollette Kean has been a member of the NewYork Weill Cornell Council since 1993 and has served on the Executive Committee since 2004. In 2007 Mrs. Kean was the recipient of the Council’s Annual Leadership Award. Since the mid 1980s, Mrs. Kean has taken an active role in a number of areas at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. Mrs. Kean is the widow of Dr. Benjamin H. Kean, who was a Distinguished Professor of Tropical Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College. Dr. Kean was a physician to many, as well as a respected research scientist, author and lecturer. For many years, Mrs. Kean served as President of the Auxiliary at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center and continues as an active President Emeritus. Mrs. Kean is Co-chair of The Circle of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, and a member of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital’s Patient-Centered Care and Service Quality Committee, and the Women’s Health Symposium Steering Committee. At the Hospital for Special Surgery, Mrs. Kean sits on the Oversight Committee for the Collette T. Kean Chair of Research.

A retired retail executive with a long and distinguished career at Bergdorf Goodman in New York, Mrs. Kean, upon leaving the business world, became involved with the Wyoming Seminary Preparatory School in Kingston, Pennsylvania as a trustee and board member. At the Central Park Conservancy, she sits on the Tree Trust Committee and is an active member of the International Fashion Group. She is on the Council on Population Control and Infectious Disease at the School of Public Health, Harvard University. Mrs. Kean resides in Manhattan and Hobe Sound, Florida.
