The Council salutes Collette T. Kean, who has touched the lives of so many at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. In the mid 1980s, Collette Kean became a volunteer at what was then The New York Hospital and over the past 26 years, her service activities have expanded to numerous areas of the Medical Center. Collette Kean is the widow of Dr. Benjamin H. Kean, who was a distinguished professor of Tropical Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College, a physician to many, and a respected research scientist, author, and lecturer. When Collette accepted our Annual Leadership Award in 2007, she said “It has been a privilege to be involved in this remarkable Medical Center, not on the daily firing line, but rather in a role on the bench, quietly connected in a way that enables me to help others in need. I have personally come to know professionals who labor here, and who generously gave, and give me a security blanket, second to none.” read more
