Research

In 2004, the first hospital-wide Nursing Research Steering Committee was formed. Steering Committee membership is composed of the co-chair of the site-specific research committees as well as experts from the Columbia School of Nursing and the Director of Nursing Practice and Informatics. The Steering Committee is chaired by Gina Bufe, RN, PhD, Director of Nursing Quality and Research. The Steering Committee provides oversight to Nursing Research and the site-specific committees. The goal of the committee is to promote nursing research and research utilization in clinical practice. The members facilitate the review of proposals and provide staff support and guidance in the research process.

This has been a learning opportunity as well as a significant step in the pursuit of continued excellence and the promotion of evidence based practice in nursing. Members have been developing expertise in the review of nursing research proposals and the use of the Stetler Model in the research utilization process.
