Suzette Garcia, RN
Ambulatory Care Nursing
CNIII
(Clinical Excellence Award)
Suzette Garcia has been a valued member of the CPMC staff since 1985. As
one of the founding members of the 180th Street ACNC Practice, a primary
care practice serving obstetric and gynecologic patients, Suzette was
instrumental in setting up policies and practices which ensure that
efficient, high quality patient-centered care is consistently provided.
Recently, she received an award from the Ambulatory Department for her
exceptional support and collaboration in the orientation of staff from
various ACNC sites. Suzette is currently pursuing a Masters degree in
Health Service Administration.
Colleagues commend Suzette for her excellent leadership in helping the
practice qualify as a Prenatal Care Assistance Program (PCAP) site.
"Suzette expertly ran the multidisciplinary team meetings to ensure that
all members understood what was expected, and that all interventions were
accurately documented. The PCAP designation is, no small matter, as it will
mean an enhanced reimbursement rate for the Hospital, and therefore the
necessary revenue so we can continue to provide a full scope of services to
our patients."
Several colleagues acknowledged Suzette for learning sign language in order
to communicate with hearing impaired patients and for encouraging fellow
staff to always "learn something new" and enhance their skills.
Suzette develops healthy, meaningful relationships with the clients, who,
according to colleagues, have greater success with testing, medication
compliance and diet regimens following her expert, compassionate teaching.
One colleague noted that Suzette has both "a depth of knowledge and superb
social skills to facilitate optimal outcomes." Another colleague added that
in Suzette, "we have a very special treasure."
