Margaret (Meg) Barry is an outstanding Department of Nursing Education
Clinical Instructor in the Emergency Department (ED). Meg has been a valued
member of the CPMC family for thirty years. She is certified in Emergency
Nursing (CEN) and is an instructor for critically important nursing courses
and certification programs. She is a member of the NYSNA, a member of the
Board of Trustees and Treasurer of the Emergency Nurses Association, and a
member of Sigma Theta Tau, the International Honor Society of Nursing.
Colleagues describe Meg's monumental contributions to patients, staff and
the Medical Center as "invaluable" and literally numbering in "the
hundreds." As a member of the cardiac arrest committee, she spearheaded the
redesign and institution-wide revision of cardiac arrest carts. She is
currently co-chair of a committee developing the Emergency Department
Survival Guide, a pocket-sized resource book for ED nursing personnel. She
is also a dynamic participant in disaster preparedness planning and
education.
Meg teaches in the DOVE training program which provides advocacy services
for victims of sexual assault and domestic violence. She is also a Trauma
nursing instructor for the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA). In 2000 and
2001 she was selected to do a poster presentation at the ENA National
Meeting.
Colleagues unanimously praise Margaret as a "great educator." She inspires
her students and colleagues to follow a path of personal achievement in
which one may walk with pride and reverence- a path of knowledge and
professional excellence that will ensure a lifetime of satisfaction and
recognition.
