JUDY BLIEKA
JUDY BLIEKA, R. N.
WOMEN AND CHILDREN’S HEALTH NURSIN

Judy Blieka graduated from SUNY at Downstate Medical Center with a BSN and started work at NewYork Presbyterian Hospital in 1986 as a staff nurse in the Department of Women and Children’s Health Nursing. Her expertise in all aspects of the multifaceted staff nurse role is evident in her daily practice. She is a skilled caregiver, a proficient charge nurse, an excellent preceptor, a knowledgeable patient/family educator and a supportive team member.

Judy accepts the many challenges and immense changes that have occurred in the past years with optimism. Her ability to maintain a positive demeanor in stressful situations is noted and appreciated by all. She contributes in a positive way to ensure brilliant patient care that results in positive patient outcomes.

There are many qualities that make Judy special: her inclination to assume responsibility for difficult assignments, her quiet sense of humor, her ability to act as peacemaker and her staunch patient advocacy. Working with Judy is a daily reminder of what pediatric nursing is all about. She is thoughtful and kind in all interactions, she listens to her patients and families; and will speak on their behalf if necessary. She practices clinical and service excellence while promoting family centered care. She is a firm believer in patient and family involvement in the plan of care.

Judy has a uniqueness about her that is hard to match. It is the ability to combine excellent nursing care with a compassionate, spiritual and empathetic manner. She is a true team player, working collaboratively with all disciplines to provide positive patient/family outcomes.

Judy is well respected by her peers; all benefit from her expertise, her dedication, her devotion and her determination to give the best care possible. Judy personifies excellence in nursing practice and is exceptionally worthy of the Excellence in Nursing Award for the Department of Women and Children’s Health Nursing.
