Ellen Young, RN
AMBULATORY CARE NETWORK
Ellen Received her BSN degree in 1980 from
City College. She began her career as a Registered Nurse at Cabrini
Medical Center. In 1988 Ellen left Cabrini to become a full-time
mother. She returned to her career at Cabrini in 1991. Ellen joined
the Ambulatory Nursing Staff of New York Presbyterian as a per diem
nurse in 1998. She stayed in this position until March of 1999, when
she joined the full-time staff at Cornell Internal Medicine Associates.
Ellen is responsible for all nursing needs associated with a practice
of 25 full-time attending physicians and 131 residents, constituting
over 50,000 visits per year. She is intelligent and knowledgeable.
She is well informed of medical issues that come her way. She has
superior judgement about how to handle problems and address the multiple
issues that arise during a busy day of patient care. Whether it is
answering a patient’s question about diabetes or about immunization
procedures, or placing an IV for a dehydrated patient, Ellen is always
prepared and in control of the situation.
Ellen is viewed as a leader in CIMA. Whenever someone needs help,
from medical doctor to housekeeper, her expertise is sought. They
are never disappointed as she fulfills their needs with professionalism,
speed, and efficiency. In fact, Ellen was the first winner of CIMA’s
Joanne Schellenberg Award of Excellence. This is an annual award
in which the staff, residents and attending physicians honor the
staff member who most exemplifies excellence in patient satisfaction,
teamwork and competency.
