Angel Angeles, RN
Critical Care Nursing
CNIII
(Clinical Excellence Award)
Angel Angeles has a Master of Science degree in Nursing and over
twenty-four years of neonatal, pediatric and adult critical care and
emergency nursing experience. He is certified in Critical Care (CCRN) and
is a member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. His other
memberships include the American Nurses Association, the New York State
Nurses Association, and the American College of Health Executives. He is
currently preparing an abstract for possible presentation at the 2003
AACN's National Teaching Institute and Critical Care Exposition.
Colleagues on the Cardio-Thoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) refer to
Angel as "a great inspiration," "a remarkably kind and sensitive person,"
and "a strong, experienced leader."
Regarded as an "indispensable resource" for vital information, Angel excels
as a mentor to new and senior staff who seek his expert guidance concerning
difficult clinical issues. He has an impressive command of the leading edge
technologies, therapies and equipment required for the advanced quality
care of critically ill open heart patients. According to one night shift
colleague, "He's always in the room of the sickest patient, brainstorming
with doctors, physician assistants, and fellow nurses."
Colleagues note that his calm reasoned approach is focused on assessing and
meeting patients' needs to create positive outcomes in situations that
might otherwise seem hopeless or overwhelming. Angel is described by one
colleague as someone who "would rather light a candle than curse the
darkness." One colleague stated, "No crisis is too overwhelming when Angel
is working... nothing compares to the Angel on our shoulders."
