Clinical Practice/Policy Crosswalk

Did you know that there are several nursing councils and committees that support clinical practice? Consider bringing your expertise and knowledge to provide quality and evidence-based practice to one of the following council/committees. New members are always welcomed. Speak with your Nurse Manager or Lourdes V. Mellino, Director of Clinical Practice/QA for further information.


 
Nursing Recruitment & Retention Charge: Clinical Practice Council Charge:
  1. Establish divisional priorities to support R&R strategies.
  2. Work collaboratively with Nursing Recruitment.
  3. Identify new concepts for the R&R.
  4. Analyze statistical information for termination and vacancy rates.
  5. Evaluate recruitment activities.
  1. Provide oversight and coordinate review/development of standards in subcommittees.
  2. Collaborate with NYWCC Nursing Councils relative to integration process.
  3. Ensure that the organizational environment supports decision making by the professional nurse and fosters a collaborative professional nursing practice.
  4. Ensures that all standards support evidence-based practice, patient advocacy and patient education.
Nursing & Employee Recognition Charge: Clinical Policies/Procedures Subcommittee Charge:
  1. Establish process to acknowledge outstanding performance by professional nurses and other colleagues.
  2. Plan activities for Nurse Recognition Week.
  3. Organize approaches to communicate to nursing staff.
  4. Enhance retention by recognizing peer accomplishments.
  5. Establish a consistent newsletter distribution.
  1. Ensure triennial review nursing clinical policies and procedures for the non-ICU areas.
  2. Develop new nursing policies/ procedure, as appropriate to govern nursing practice and document patient care (documentation guidelines).
  3. Report to CPC on a quarterly basis progress of subcommittee.
Patient/Family Education Subcommittee Charge: ICU-Step Down Clinical Practice Subcommittee Charge:
  1. Establish criteria for patient/family needs assessment to guide the development of patient education programs and materials.
  2. Design and recommend patient education programs based on need assessment.
  3. Ensure patient education materials support organizational and nursing standards.
  4. Report on a quarterly basis to CPC and to the interdisciplinary Patient Education committee.
  1. Ensure triennial review nursing clinical policies and procedures for the ICU and Step-down units.
  2. Develop new nursing policies/ procedure, as appropriate to govern nursing practice and document patient care (documentation guidelines) in the ICU and Step-down units.
  3. Report to CPC on a quarterly basis progress of subcommittee
Nursing Education and Development Charge: Clinical Information Systems Charge:
  1. Identify opportunities for continuing education for the professional nursing staff.
  2. Organize annual calendar for nursing grand rounds topics.
  3. Identify educational programs for ancillary nursing staff.
  4. Identify opportunities for school affiliations and improving student experiences.
  1. Coordinate efforts relative to nursing informatics systems.
  2. Identify nursing systems needed to enhance patient care delivery.
  3. Identify and develop policies and procedure specific to clinical information systems.
  4. Assess and recombined improvements to current information systems.
