Nursing Research 2007-2008

The Department of Nursing is committed to promoting nursing research and research-related activities that are essential to the development of evidence-based practice, quality outcomes, and cost-effective patient care. The Department's Nursing Research Governing Council and campus specific Nursing Research Councils facilitate final approval and implementation of research-related activities; support research utilization and evidence-based nursing practice; plan and implement annual Nursing Research Symposia at each campus; and develop the core competencies needed for staff nurses to successfully implement evidence-based practice. The Nursing Research Councils at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital stimulate and promote Nursing Research at the unit level and are a part of the Shared Governance Structure at NYP. The Nursing Research Governing Council oversees, consults and guides the campus specific Nursing Research Councils. The Nursing Research Governing Council is chaired by Gina M. Bufe, RN, PhD, Director of Nursing Education, Quality and Research. Accomplishments of NYP Department of Nursing Staff are listed below.
