NEW YORK (May 1, 1999)

Myrna A. Manners, an expert in media relations and crisis management, has been named Vice President of Public Affairs for New York Presbyterian Hospital and Vice Provost of Public Affairs for Joan and Sanford I. Weill Medical College of Cornell University.

In this position, she is responsible for the development, management, and implementation of public relations strategies for the Hospital and the Medical College. Ms. Manners will serve as the chief spokesperson and will oversee the media relations, publications, and other external communications efforts of these institutions.

Ms. Manners joined The New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center's Office of Public Affairs in 1981 as Assistant Editor, and most recently held the position of Director of Public Affairs. Prior to coming to New York Weill Cornell Center, she held positions at McLean Hunter Inc., J. Walter Thompson, and Plenum Press.

Highly regarded among her peers in the healthcare industry, Ms. Manners was elected to the board of the Healthcare Public Relations and Marketing Society (HPRMS) in 1989 and served as President of the society for the 1991-1992 term.

Ms. Manners received her undergraduate degree in Journalism from New York University. She is a native New Yorker, and resides in Brooklyn.
