NEW YORK (Apr 2, 2010)

Kevin Hammeran has been appointed senior vice president and chief operating officer of NewYork-Presbyterian/Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital and the Sloane Hospital for Women at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center.

"Kevin Hammeran has a superb track record of successes, bolstering the clinical and operational strength of every hospital where he has worked, while fostering an environment of outstanding care and compassion for patients and their families," says Dr. Herbert Pardes, president and CEO of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. "In this role, he will provide the leadership to ensure the very best care from pregnancy and birth through childhood."

"I look forward to working with Kevin as we dedicate ourselves to providing children and their families with the most advanced and effective treatment options," says Dr. Lawrence Stanberry, chairman of the Department of Pediatrics of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and pediatrician-in-chief of NewYork-Presbyterian/Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital. "His leadership will also help strengthen the important clinical links between obstetrics and pediatrics."

"Our focus is caring for women and children in a seamless manner, with adult and children's specialists working in close collaboration to diagnose and treat the full range of medical conditions. This integrated approach is crucial for optimal outcomes for women and children," adds Dr. Mary D'Alton, obstetrician and gynecologist-in-chief at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center and the Willard C. "My goal is to build on the impressive legacies of Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital and the Sloane Hospital for Women and ensure their continued success into the future," says Mr. Hammeran. "This success can be defined as providing for the medical and emotional needs of patients and their families, and increasing the availability of cutting-edge treatment options for our surrounding communities and everyone who needs it."

Mr. Hammeran has more than 30 years of health care management experience with a focus on pediatrics. For the last six years, he was executive vice president and chief operating officer at Miami Children's Hospital.
