— Dr. Herbert Pardes, President and CEO of NewYork-Presbyterian Healthcare System, has been elected to a three-year term, effective immediately, on the Board of Directors of the Markle Foundation. With the foundation, Dr. Pardes has been Executive Vice Chair of the Markle Foundation's Connecting for Health Steering Group.

Dr. Pardes' election was announced with those of John Gage, Chief Researcher and Director of the Science Office for Sun Microsystems, and Peter A. Nadosy, Advisory Director at Morgan Stanley, to the Markle board.

We are very fortunate to have John Gage, Peter Nadosy and Herb Pardes join our Board of Directors, as they bring with them an extraordinary breadth of experience and leadership in their respective fields, said Zoë Baird, President of the Markle Foundation. Each one of them has already made substantial contributions to our work and we look forward to their continued contributions at Markle.

Dr. Herbert Pardes, President and CEO of NewYork-Presbyterian Healthcare System, served as Director of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) and U.S. Assistant Surgeon General during the Carter and Reagan Administrations (1978-84).
