As the trend toward minimally invasive surgery increases, residency and fellowship training as well as continuing medical education becomes increasingly important. As one of the premier programs in the country for minimally invasive surgery, the Minimal Access Surgery Center offers advanced laparoscopic training programs taught by faculty from both Weill Medical College of Cornell University and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Residents in all of the identified subspecialties will be trained in the advanced techniques of minimal access surgery.
MASC also will offer comprehensive continuing education programs addressing topics in all aspects of minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Video conferencing capabilities enable the Center to offer distance learning courses as well as telementoring for surgeons at remote sites.

The Columbia/Cornell MASC fellowship at New York Presbyterian Hospital offers training in a broad variety of advanced laparoscopic procedures, including bariatric, colon, hernia, esophagus and solid organ surgery including colon, pancreas, spleen, adrenal and donor nephrectomy. There is the expectation of clinical research and the opportunity for laboratory research as well. The opportunity to work at one of the Nations best hospitals affiliated with two Ivy League medical schools and nationally recognized leaders in the field of minimally invasive surgery makes this fellowship opportunity unique.
