Femoral Head Resurfacing
Hip surgery helps to reduce hip pain and increase function. Sometimes age and disease are indicators of the type of surgery best suited. For the younger active age group, hip resurfacing may be a viable solution. Femoral head resurfacing leaves more of your bone in place and does not remove your femur neck shaft. A total hip replacement replaces your hip socket, femoral head and femoral shaft. With femoral head resurfacing, typically only the femoral head is reshaped and resurfaced allowing the patient to leave as much healthy bone as possible. The procedure will reduce pain and ensure joint stability.
