Urology 

As part of the Department of Urology, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center, the Institute for Pediatric Urology specializes in the structure, function, and development of the kidneys and urinary tracts of children. Our physicians and nurses are specially trained in pediatric urology and provide a comprehensive program for the management of genital and urinary problems that occur in children, from birth to 18 years of age. The Institute is an internationally recognized referral center for the treatment of children with ambiguous genitalia and has pioneered laparoscopic and robotic surgery procedures for bladder and kidney disorders. Specialized surgical skills include:

  • genital reconstruction and surgical aspects of disorders of sexual development
  • robotic nephrectomy, partial nephrectomy, and pyeloplasty
  • laparoscopic surgery for a number of conditions, including undescended testicles
  • microsurgery for varicocelectomies
  • extravesical correction for vesicoureteral reflux

The Institute for Pediatric Urology has also established the following specialty services:

  • Linda and Carl Seaman Pediatric Urodynamics Unit
  • Pediatric Stone Unit
  • Program for fetal urology in collaboration with the Perinatal Center of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology
