One of the nation’s preeminent cardiac surgery programs, our Division of Pediatric Cardiology offers young patients a team-based, specialized approach that provides optimal care for the treatment of pediatric cardiac disease and disorders. Because children with heart conditions often have other multiple health problems, we have established a strong team approach to our patients' care, working closely with pediatric gastroenterologists, child neurologists, and other pediatric specialists as needed. As part of the NewYork-Presbyterian Phyllis and David Komansky Center for Children's Health, we provide one-stop, coordinated care for your child in our top-ranked, state of the art facilities.
Our pediatric heart surgery team, led by Jonathan M. Chen, MD, includes professionals who are highly trained in the special needs of children. Our experienced anesthesiologists, perfusionists who operate the heart-lung machine, and nursing staff all have expertise in pediatric cardiac surgery.
Our young patients often require support services in addition to their cardiac surgery. We provide age-appropriate programs, such as a K-12 school within the Hospital; Child Life Specialists, who are trained in child development to help you and your child cope with the hospital experience; and feeding specialists, who work to ensure that our patients continue to thrive after their surgery. These are just some of the services available to your child.
