The Division of Pediatric Endocrinology offers the following specialized programs:
Diabetes and Obesity Program – The Division’s Diabetes and Obesity Program cares for children with both type 1 and type 2 diabetes, obesity and insulin resistance. It offers a comprehensive, individualized and intensive case management with experience in insulin pump therapy and glucose sensors.
Metabolic Bone Disease Management – Our staff provides specialized care for children with low bone mass or osteoporosis and frequent fractures, in collaboration with the Hospital for Special Surgery. We also manage children with genetic disorders that affect bone health, such as osteogenesis imperfecta or McCune-Albright syndrome.
Comprehensive Care for Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH) – Our staff works with our pediatric urology team and parent support groups to develop models for care of congenital adrenal disorders with access to multiple specialists and transitioning to adult care.
Endocrine-Specific Testing – Performed by an endocrinologist, this diagnostic testing helps to establish a child’s specific endocrine condition, such as adrenal disorders, growth hormone deficiency, disorders of puberty, and for diagnosis of type 2 diabetes.
Newborn Screening - Our Division is a state-approved center for newborn screening, providing evaluation and management of the newborns who fail the state screening for congenital hypothyroidism and congenital adrenal hyperplasia.
Outpatient Infusion Services - Our Division is one of the few pediatrics centers that specializes in the administration of medications used for treatment osteogenesis imperfecta and low bone mass.
