Endocrinology and Metabolism
Overview
The Division of Pediatric Endocrinology at the NewYork-Presbyterian Phyllis and David Komansky Center for Children’s Health provides comprehensive state-of-the-art care to children and adolescents with diabetes and pediatric endocrine disorders including:
- diabetes, obesity and insulin resistance
- short stature or other growth disorders
- premature or delayed puberty, menstrual irregularities, and syndromes associated with androgene excess in females
- congenital adrenal hyperplasia
- disorders of low bone mass or osteoporosis and calcium metabolism
- genetic disorders that have endocrine manifestations, such as osteogenesis imperfecta, thalassemias, Prader-Willi syndrome and Klinefelter syndrome
Our team, led by Maria G. Vogiatzi, MD, incorporates the expertise of:
- pediatric endocrinologists
- diabetes educator/pediatric endocrine nurse, and a
- pediatric nurse practitioner
In addition, the Division works closely with nutritionists, social workers, and other specialists in the Department of Pediatrics.
The team also partners with parents or guardians to guide them through the treatment and care process, offering support, guidance, and resources to assist in caring for their child and understanding their illness.
