Lung and Respiratory Disorders

Overview

The Pediatric Pulmonology practice at the NewYork-Presbyterian Phyllis and David Komansky Center for Children's Health provides comprehensive, state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment services for a broad range of respiratory and allergic diseases and disorders, including asthma.

Our multidisciplinary team includes:

  • pediatric pulmonologists
  • pediatric sleep specialist
  • pediatric nurse
  • pulmonary function technicians
  • exercise physiologist
  • support staff

We emphasize the involvement of parents or guardians in their child’s treatment plan, and also coordinate care and communicate closely with referring physicians.

We offer a number of specialized programs, including our Pediatric Aerodigestive Center, one of the few such programs in the northeast, which brings together multiple specialties (pediatric otolaryngology, gastroenterology, and pulmonology) to treat children with airway and swallowing problems, particularly those who are disabled.

At the Pediatric Sleep Center at Weill Cornell, Director Dr. Haviva Veler is board-certified in pediatrics, sleep medicine and pediatric pulmonology. The Pediatric Sleep Center is dedicated to the care of infants, children and adolescents, and provides sleep studies in a newly renovated space tailored for children and their families.

Diagnostic Services

Available diagnostic resources include:

  • pulmonary function testing
  • flexible fiberoptic bronchoscopy
  • state-of-the-art pediatric radiology services
