March is Social Work Month!

March is Social Work Month! The Department of Social Work at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital has four major functions reflective of the hospital and the social work profession:

• To improve the quality of life for patients, families and significant others while increasing the value and visibility of social work to the hospital and hospital staff
• To advocate for patients, families and their significant others while understanding and working towards the goals and objectives of the hospital and the center
• To maintain and enhance professional social work standards
• To provide education and training to the patient, families, graduate students, interdisciplinary hospital staff, and the community at large.
