Sharon E. Granville, MS, CCLS, CTRS, NCC Joins NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell as Manager of Child Life Services

The Weill Cornell Department of Pediatrics and the NewYork-Presbyterian Phyllis and David Komansky Center for Children's Health are pleased to welcome Sharon E. Granville, MS, CCLS, CTRS, NCC as the new manager of Child Life Services at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. Her expertise includes pediatric palliative care, bereavement, and international pediatric psychosocial services.

In 1992, Ms. Granville received her Bachelor of Science in Therapeutic Recreation/Child Life from Springfield College in Springfield, MA, graduating cum laude. The following year, she joined the Child Life team at Schneider Children's Hospital at North Shore in Manhasset as a Child Life Specialist. Ms. Granville was promoted to Senior Child Life Specialist in 1996, and became Child Life Coordinator in 1999. She created and initiated several programs including a Parent Accompaniment Program for anesthesia induction. Ms. Granville continued her training, graduating summa cum laude from Long Island University, where she received a Master of Science in School Counseling in 2005.

In 2006, Ms. Granville joined the Mount Sinai Kravis Children's Hospital in New York City, serving as Child Life Inpatient Supervisor. There she managed the day to day clinical operations of the child life program, participated in resident training, and was the co-chair of the Pediatric Bereavement Committee. She received a Mount Sinai Service Excellence Program Freshman Award in 2008.

In addition to her clinical and administrative responsibilities, Ms. Granville is an active contributor to Child Life professional organizations and child welfare. She has served as President of Child Life of Greater New York, and currently sits on the Child Life Council board where she has serves as Director. She is also an adjunct faculty member at the Bank Street College of Education's Child Life Master Degree program where she teaches a class on loss in children's lives, and mentors students on their integrative master's project.

Ms. Granville is a Certified Child Life Specialist, a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, a Nationally Certified Counselor, and is currently pursuing Mental Health Counselor licensure.
