Columbia Ortho

William Macaulay, MD

Dr. Macaulay joined Columbia Orthopedics in 1999 and is the Chief, Division of Adult Reconstruction, Director, The Center for Hip and Knee Replacement and Anne Youle Stein Professor of Clinical Orthopaedic Surgery at Columbia University.

An alumnus of Columbia’s College of Physicians and Surgeons since 1992, Dr. Macaulay has served as Advisory Dean since 2005. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and fellowship trained in both Hip and Knee Replacement.

Although active in medical student/resident teaching and research at an ivy league institution, Dr. Macaulay has a thriving regional, national and international practice solving the most vexing adult reconstructive problems. The author of scores of scientific articles and book chapters, Dr. Macaulay is familiar with the latest minimally invasive, bone preserving and recuperation enhancing trends in hip and knee replacement surgery. Nonetheless, he remains conservative with his approach to the patient and uses surgery as the last resort.

The Center for Hip & Knee Replacement at NewYork Presbyterian Hospital, Columbia University was honorably mentioned and Dr. Macaulay officially included in the list of New York's Best Doctors in 2009
