Medical Plans

  • Employees have a choice of two medical plans .
    • Empire BlueCross BlueShield Exclusive Provider Organization Plan - An EPO with all services provided in-network.
    • Point of Service Plan - A POS that allows out-of-network services.
  • Both Plans include Caremark Rx and Blue View Vision.
  • Employees who wish to utilize the NYP IVF program must be enrolled in the POS Plan.
  • For employees who are married and are both eligible for NYP benefits, the spouse earning the higher salary is required to elect medical coverage. These employees will select Employee+1 or Family coverage.

Dental Plans

  • Employees have a choice of three dental plans
    • Aetna PPO
    • Aetna DMO
    • Columbia Dental

Group Life Insurance

  • The Hospital provides Graduate Staff with life insurance in the amount of $100,000.
  • Enrollment is automatic, and this is a 100% Hospital-paid benefit.

Supplemental Life Insurance

  • In addition to the Hospital-paid Group Life Insurance benefit of $100,000, employees can purchase additional coverage of up to 5 times their annual base salary.
  • Employees are required to submit EOI if:
  • They wish to elect a level of coverage more than three times their annual salary.

Spouse Life Insurance

  • Employees can select Spouse Life Insurance coverage amounts of $10,000, $20,000, $30,000, $40,000, or $50,000.
  • Spouse coverage cannot exceed the employee's annual salary.
  • If both the employee and his/her spouse are NYP employees eligible for benefits, neither can enroll for Spouse Life Insurance.

Child Life Insurance

  • This plan provides employees with the ability to insure their unmarried dependent child(ren) until the end of the calendar year in which he/she becomes age 19; or age 23 if he/she is a full-time student at an accredited school of higher learning.
  • Employees can select Child Life Insurance coverage amounts of $2,000, $4,000, $6,000, or $8,000, and the policy covers all eligible children.
  • If both parents are NYP employees and eligible for benefits, eligible dependent child(ren) can be insured only by one parent.
  • Evidence of Insurability (EOI) is not required to enroll in this benefit.

Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D)

  • Insurance AD&D coverage provides benefits based on type and severity of injury when the injury results in the employee's death or dismemberment.
  • Evidence of Insurability (EOI) is not required to enroll in this benefit.

Long-Term Disability (LTD)

  • Long-Term Disability Insurance provides employees with a benefit equal to 60% of their pre-disability monthly earnings to a maximum of $10,000.
  • Benefit payments commence after an employee has been disabled for 180 consecutive days.
  • Graduate Staff are automatically enrolled in this 100% Hospital-paid benefit.

Hyatt Legal Plan

  • The Hyatt Legal Plan provides services related to family law, immigration law, real estate matters, debt collection defense, estate planning, traffic, criminal matters, and more.
  • The Plan covers only legal issues that arise after joining the Plan.

Ayco Financial Planning

The Ayco Company provides financial education and counseling services, including objective advice on tax saving strategies, estate planning, education funding, risk protection, cash flow management, and more.

Flexible Spending Accounts

  • The P&A Group administers the Health Care, Dependent Care, Adoption Assistance, Mass Transit, and Parking Spending Accounts.
  • Employees can enroll in the Health Care and Dependent Care Accounts during annual enrollment or for an IRS qualified change in status.
  • IRS qualified changes in status include marriage, divorce, legal separation, birth/adoption, change in employment status, or death of a dependent child or spouse.
  • P&A Group provides a debit card to enrollees in Health Care Spending Accounts.
  • You can enroll in the Mass Transit and Commuter Parking Spending Accounts and make changes to your selection anytime during the year.
  • If you use Hospital parking, you are not eligible to enroll in the Commuter Parking FSA.

ASPCA Pet Insurance

  • Pet health insurance policies help manage the high costs of pet medical care by providing reimbursement for veterinary bills.
  • NYP employees who enroll in the ASPCA Pet Health Insurance Plan will receive a 5% discount on the base premium and an additional 10% on multiple pet discounts.
