The merger of The New York Hospital and The Presbyterian Hospital made possible the development of three, state-of-the-art Centers of Excellence. They include a Gamma Knife Center for the treatment of brain tumors, a comprehensive Liver Transplant Center, and a Lung-Reduction Center for the treatment of severe emphysema and bronchitis. Additionally, the union makes NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital one of only three medical centers in the nation with both Adult and Pediatric Level 1 Trauma Centers.

The success of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital as a merged entity is evidenced by its ranking in the 2011-2012 U.S.News & World Report Honor Roll of America's Best Hospitals. A part of the Honor Roll since 1999, in 2011-2012 NewYork-Presbyterian once again was included among America's Best Hospitals, ranking #1 in New York and among the top six in the U.S.
